Antique James Rodgers Sheffield Inlaid Bowie Knife NrHere's a great 19th century james rodgers bowie knife offered at no reserve! The knife has an inlaid handle with a vase and flower motif. The inlay looks like brass and the wood a dense black type, maybe ebony. The blade is signed james rodgers celebrated maker sheffield as well as an oval reading cast steel bowie knife. The james rodgers mark is not out of focus ni the picture it is double stamped. The knife retains it's original sheath which is embossed leather with cornucopia, peacocks and a torch. Wow. There is an oval knob on one side for attachment to a belt. The tip of the blade is flat but it looks clean so i don't know if that was how it wsa made. Theer are a couple spots of rust and typical tarnish. The sharp dege has some small nicks. The handle has a line crack on each side, the one on the inlaid isde is short while the one on the undecorated side measures about 2 and 1/4. Overall the knife measures 10 and 3/8 long.
