This vintage japanese sword was purchased this past week from the vet's son in law at a motel buy in michigan's upper penninsula. Sword is very clean overall and is complete with the original scabbard. It measures 18.75 inches overall adn blade length is 12.375 inches from tip to the notch in the habaki. Blade is bright & clean and without edge nicks (see photos). It retains a relatively sharp edge but temper line is hard to see (see photos). There is some minimal spotting to the blade from longtime storage that will probably clean if desired (see photos). Blade tang appears has very dark rusting & has a aged signature that is hard to make out (see photos). Handle wrap is somewhat age soiled but has no fryaing or losses and remains tight (see photos). Menuki are present beneath the wrap and collar, pommel & tsuba rae nicely decorated (see photos). Scabbard is made of wood and is lightly ridged (see scabbard photos). The top fitting is decorated metal and it appears never to have had a bottom fitting (see photos). Swodr fits perfectly in the scabbard and is not loose. rOiginal orange tie material to scabbard top remains present as found. Thsi is an interesting japanese sword with a bright blade. It woudl display well and be a super addition to a sword collection. It is guaranteed for life sa original and as described.
